Why don't we use MICA to colour?

Sure, mica might make cosmetics look attractive and let more people choose them rather than uncolored or basic colored ones.

But,

Why don’t we use Mica to color no matter what?

Though considered natural and usually safe to use in cosmetics…. We still aren’t comfortable using it in our products which finally due to a few reasons.

Ø   Firstly, some of the mined mica is not ethically sourced according to a few reports. Children aged 5 and above are being illegally sent for mining all day for less than a dollar/day.

IT  It has led to an investigation when a few children who work as miners had lost their lives in a couple of months (Eastern part of India).

It's been observed that prolonged exposure to mica mining & breathing can cause severe lungs related problems and, in a few cases, even death.

*25% of the world’s mica supply chain is from India.

Ø   As mica is being ground fine into nanoparticles, it can be absorbed into the skin and even through to the lungs.

Taking these factors into account, we strongly have decided not to use mica in any of our products at any point in time.

Our products with color in them:

  • Rose Sandalwood Body butter: This delicate Pink colored Body butter is enriched with Beet hat is rich in Antioxidants. Not only does it give beautiful color to this Body Butter, but also aids your skin with extra Antioxidants which might help you from aging.
And, this Body Butter is toughest of all to manufacture. Beetroot is not oil-soluble, we worked hard to use this Antioxidant-rich beauty to color, rather than MICA which is apparently, easily available... But knowing it's facts & background, we decided not to use Mica no matter what, and we promise you not to.

  • Neem Matcha Body Butter: We've used  Matcha to color this  Body Butter. Matcha is known to be the Antioxidant’s pool. In fact, it has got more Antioxidants than Goji berries (Superfood). This explains what it can do to your skin.

Rather than using Mica which becomes available to us via illegal child labor and deaths, we decided to use coloring that comes from plants, vegetables, and fruits.
